So what do people want to know about me? I grew up in Portland, Oregon and then went to the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. I did a four year Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Philosophy, with a minor in Science Studies. Athough I attended college for the experience and options it kept open, I planned to follow a career in 3D animation, a career that could combine my passion and skills in both art and technology. A part time course in Maya at the Vancouver Film School really sparked my passion for viual effects while I was still working on my degree in philosophy. I also dabbled in web design, and worked for 6 months on a project for the Classics Department at UBC, modeling artifacts and people to populate a simulation program of Ancient Greece. My post-graduate education in animation was at the Vancouver Film School where I did a year long program, specializing in Visual Effects.
Now for a bit of tech info. I generally prefer to use Maya, as that is what I'm most familiar and experienced with for 3D and effects work, but I am also fairly proficient with XSI and 3D Studio Max. I've also developed a fondness for ZBrush, although Mudbox is giving it a run for its money. I'm also pretty capable with Adobe After Effects and Combustion, and of course Photoshop has been a staple for me for years. I'm hoping to eventually like to move into the effects side of feature film production, either as a TD or a compositor. While my real passion lies with film, I would also be interested in doing effects work for video games, especially given the cinematic qualities that are increasingly common in today's games.
